DUKE IN NEW YORK
SUMMER INTERNSHIPS IN THE CITY
May 21—August 12
Students call Duke in New York: Summer Internships in the City “a lab for life.” That’s because the program not only gives you a chance to live and study in one of the world’s truly dynamic cities, but also supports work experience and introduces you to Duke alums and other professionals in New York to help you explore life after Duke, for Duke credit.
During Summer Session I, you’ll take a seminar cross-listed in English, Theater Studies, Visual Studies, and Public Policy Studies. Throughout Summer Session I and II, you’ll work an arts and/or media internship of your choosing. The program also features faculty-led tours of historical neighborhoods as well as trips to Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, museums, music festivals, and other NYC events.
This program offers an exciting way to gain experience in arts and media fields while learning firsthand about this remarkable city, both in the classroom and on the streets. It makes for a well-rounded summer that is an unforgettable complement to the Duke experience.
Please note that this program is open to students from all majors.
If you are an international student studying at Duke on a visa (such as F-1), please read these guidelines
and contact the Duke Visa Services Office immediately about obtaining the required CPT or OPT authorization
for the internship that is a required part of this domestic program.
