Abby’s interest in international education started when she was an undergraduate and was able to intern and study abroad in Latin America. After graduating from Colby College with a degree in Latin American Studies and International Studies, she moved to Santiago, Chile, where she worked and lived for almost four years.

She returned to the US to earn her Masters in International Studies (M.I.S.) from North Carolina State University, and then joined GEO in 2014.

A native of Vermont, she currently lives in Hillsborough with her husband and their pets: a dog named Nelly, a cat named Charlie, and four chickens. During her free time, she enjoys watching Jeopardy, reading, hiking, birding, and gardening.

Primary Responsibilities: General advising for all study away programs. Regional expertise in Spain and Latin America.  Program management for summer programs Duke in Alicante, Duke in Brazil, Duke in Chile, Duke in Costa Rica, and Duke in the Arab World. Advisor for the Global Education Student Committee.

Professional Interests: ALLY Trained, First Generation/Low SES Student Advocate, Language Learning, Latin American culture and history, Spanish language
