As a first-generation college student, Mattie Stevens was the first in her family to study abroad. She has studied abroad as an undergraduate, graduate, and professional student, and encourages students to study abroad because she recognizes the benefits of exploring the reality of the world we live in. Mattie has worked in higher education for a number of years, with positions at Stanford, Dartmouth, and the University of Kansas, and is excited to join GEO and continue her professional career in international education.

Mattie holds Bachelor's degrees in history and political science from Macalester College, a J.D. with a specialization in international legal affairs from Cornell Law School, a Master's degree in history from Stanford University and another Master's degree in Policy and Law from LaTrobe University in Australia.

In her free time, Mattie enjoys watching movies, playing Star Trek Fleet Command, spending time with her cats and her grandmother, horseback riding, and reading.
