Assistant Director & Regional Manager
A graduate of Siena College in Albany, NY in political science, Paul Paparella completed his Masters degree in International Relations at the State University of New York at Albany (SUNY Albany). He has worked for an international development NGO in Washington, DC, and in addition, lived and worked as an ESL instructor in South Korea for several years. Prior to coming to Duke, he spent four years in the School for International Training's study abroad office, providing advising and program support for the Asia and Pacific Rim programs. His main areas of interest in international education include safety and risk management for students abroad, domestic programming, and summer program development. He joined Duke University's Global Education Office for Undergraduates in 2006.
Primary Responsibilities: Regional Director for UK, Ireland, Middle East, Asia, and Domestic Programs. Program management for Duke Study in China (summer), Duke Kunshan University (semester), Duke in the Arab World (summer), and for the Duke U.S.-based programs: Duke in New York Arts & Media (semester), Duke in DC (semester), Duke in New York Financial Markets & Institutions (semester), Duke in LA (semester), Duke in New York Internships in the City (summer), Duke in Silicon Valley (summer), Duke in Chicago Arts (summer), and Duke in Chicago Finance (summer)
