Senior Staff Assistant for Programs
Joy Searles has been with the Global Education Office since 2000. During her time here at GEO, she has worked with thousands of undergraduate students as they prepare to study around the world. She loves nothing better than getting to know these students and making sure they have a successful and meaningful time abroad.
She is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro with a BA in French and is a confirmed Francophile. Prior to working at Duke, she taught French at Wayne Country Day School in Goldsboro, NC for thirteen years to grades K-12 and traveled extensively with her high school students throughout Europe.
In her time away from Duke, she enjoys spoiling her five grandchildren, flower gardening and arranging, interior decorating, reading, and, of course, traveling.
