GEO Associate Director

Amy Bowes (she/her) is the Associate Director of the Global Education Office. With over a decade of experience working in higher education and study away, Amy is experienced in program development, program management, crisis response, and advising. Amy holds a B.A. in Political Science and Religious Studies from the University of Iowa and an M.A. in Comparative Politics from the University of Missouri. Amy joined Duke’s Global Education Office in 2019.

Amy loves all things Durham. She enjoys trying new restaurants downtown, finding new hiking trails, and attending all the events and festivals. You’ll typically find Amy sitting at the local brewery near her house or at the farmer’s market on Saturday mornings. Amy sings with the Common Woman Chorus and enjoys being part of this vibrant group of humans who challenge her to grow musically and personally.

Primary Responsibilities:  Associate Director for Global Education Office for Undergraduates: oversees the day-to-day operations of the office and new program development. Program Management: Duke in Russia: Nice, Duke in the Arab World, and Duke in Los Angeles.

Professional Interests: Diversity and inclusion, program development, and risk management.
