The Stephenson Pope Babcock Scholarship was generously established by the Babcock family in memory of their son. This scholarship is administered by the Karsh Office of Undergraduate Financial Support.

Duke undergraduate financial aid recipients accepted to Duke-administered summer programs will automatically be considered for this scholarship. In most cases, the Babcock Scholarship will replace the need-based loan portion of the summer financial aid package, after factoring in the family contribution.

• Merit-based

Duke undergraduates are eligible for a merit-based Mac Anderson Scholarship for the following Duke-In summer programs taught in a foreign language:

• Duke in the Arab World
• Duke in Aix-en-Provence
• Duke in Alicante
• Duke in Berlin*
• Duke in Brazil
• Duke in Bologna
• Duke in Chile
• Duke in Costa Rica
• Duke in Paris
• Duke in Provence
• Duke in Russia
• Duke in Spain
• Duke in Tunisia
• Duke Pratt in Costa Rica

*Only Duke in Berlin students who take their summer courses in German are eligible for this scholarship.

The Mac Anderson application is accepted through a general MyGlobalEd scholarship form.

• Deadline: February 1 by 11:59 p.m. EST. Even if a program extends its admission deadline, the application deadline for the scholarship is firm.
• Incomplete scholarship applications will not be processed.
• The grants will be awarded without regard to need.

Limited funding is available for Duke in China participants and for students studying language in Japan or Korea. Students may only receive one APSI scholarship per summer. Preference is given to those who have not previously received a scholarship.

Limited funding is available to full-time Duke students who plan to go to Russia on the Duke in Russia program to study language and culture. Priority is given to students who wish to continue language study after finishing Duke University's language requirement of three semesters and are majoring or minoring in Russian.

The GEO Study Away Scholarship application is accepted through a general MyGlobalEd scholarship form.

Limited funding is available to full-time Duke students who are attending the Ronald & Carrie Ludwig Duke in Silicon Valley summer program. Duke undergraduate students accepted to this program will be considered for this scholarship if they complete the general MyGlobalEd scholarship form and indicate interest.

Apply for the Ronald and Carrie Ludwig Duke in Silicon Valley Scholarship

The intention of providing support through Study Abroad Research Fellowships is to increase the numbers of humanities and social science students who pursue senior distinction projects with an international component in a country other than the U.S.

Eligibility & Criteria

Students are eligible to apply for these fellowships if they:

1. Have studied abroad in the fall or spring semester, AND
2. Will be returning to Duke for the subsequent academic year, AND
3. Have planned a summer research project in the same country as their Study Abroad program; or have planned a project related to the international theme/s and courses of their academic program abroad in a different country.

Priority for funding will be given to students whose summer projects have a high probability of being continued as senior distinction projects in their majors.

Application

Interested students should apply for a Deans' Summer Research Fellowship and indicate their eligibility for Study Abroad funding on the application.
