We cannot guarantee that our study away programs will run in the fall. Review our Frequently Asked Questions page to understand how COVID-19 might impact a Fall 2021 study away semester. If you have questions, please email us at globaled@duke.edu.
Apply & prepare
The Global Education Office is hopeful that our Fall 2021 study away programs will operate. Applications opened for our Fall 2021 programs on January 4, 2021. GEO will not be accepting Fall 2021 petitions for programs outside of its approved program portfolio.
The Duke-Approved portfolio underwent a COVID-19 risk assessment in February 2021 and has been updated to reflect programs that meet Duke’s COVID-19 protocol standards. Please review the MyExperientialEd application portal for more details on programs still accepting applications for fall 2021.
Refund Policy
If fall programs are canceled or an enrolled student wishes to withdraw before the first day of the program, Duke students who have paid deposits towards Duke-administered programs will have the funds credited to their bursar accounts. Non-Duke students will be contacted by their GEO Program Manager about deposit refunds. Students on Duke-Approved programs should check with their program provider regarding cancellation, withdrawal, and refund policies. Please review the Fall 2021 Study Away Refund Policy for more details.
