The Duke Global Health Institute featured global health students who have made an unexpected choice for their co-major. Four of the students featured have completed study away programs, and two specifically mentioned their study away experience as a memorable intersection of their co-majors:
- Jessica Marlow ’20 studied at DIS Copenhagen last semester and took a global health course focused on human trafficking. Jessica said her studies in Asian & Middle Eastern Studies helped her understand the deep connection between culture and health outcomes.
- Hazel Horvath ’20 studied abroad on the Boston University Geneva program and completed an internship at R20-Regions of Climate Action. Hazel said, “My global health coursework prepared me for most of the tasks I was given, but my environmental science experience gave me context for the impact and importance of the projects.”
